Medical disclaimer
This is education, not medical advice
Everything published on Dr. Hall's Notes is general educational content, written for a general audience. It is not medical advice, it is not individualised to you, and it is not a substitute for evaluation and treatment by a licensed clinician who knows your history, your medications, and your examination.
No doctor–patient relationship
Reading this site, subscribing to the newsletter, or emailing Elise Hall, MD does not create a doctor–patient relationship. Dr. Hall does not accept patients through this site and cannot provide individual medical advice — including dosing, medication changes, or interpretation of your symptoms or results — by email or any other channel here.
Prescription medications carry real risk
GLP-1 receptor agonists and related medications are prescription drugs with genuine contraindications, meaningful adverse effects, and important interactions. They are contraindicated in people with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2, and are not for use in pregnancy. Decisions about starting, changing, or stopping any medication belong with your own prescriber.
Emergencies
If you think you may be having a medical emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number, or go to the nearest emergency department. Do not delay seeking care because of something you read here.
Accuracy and currency
This field moves quickly. Content is accurate to the best of the author’s knowledge on its publication date, which appears on every piece, and sources are linked so you can read them yourself. Guidance, labelling, and evidence change. Where a piece has been revised because the evidence changed, the revision is noted and dated at the top of that piece rather than silently applied.
No commercial relationships
Dr. Hall's Notes carries no advertising, no sponsored content, no affiliate links, and no referral arrangements. The author receives no payment from any manufacturer, compounding pharmacy, telehealth company, or supplement company related to anything discussed on this site.
Some entries name tools Dr. Hall uses to manage her own treatment, including the Zenday App, a GLP-1 companion app. Any piece that does so carries a disclosure at the foot of the article setting out the relationship. Naming a tool is not a clinical recommendation that you use it, and no tool is a substitute for care from your own clinician.
The personal entries
The Journey is a first-person account of one person’s experience. It is offered as experience, not as evidence, and it should not be used to guide your own treatment. Individual response to these medications varies enormously, and one physician’s year tells you very little about what yours would look like.
External links
Links to journals, guidelines, and regulatory documents are provided so you can check the reasoning against the source. Their content is not controlled by this site, and a link is not an endorsement of anything else at that destination.
