The Best Wegovy Tracker Apps

Wegovy comes as single-dose pens on a fixed five-step escalation, which makes the tracking problem different from Ozempic's: not how much is left in the pen, but how you tolerated each step — and whether you should take the next one.

Elise Hall, MDApril 25, 20265 min read

This narrows my general rubric for GLP-1 apps to Wegovy specifically. Same seven criteria, different weighting, because Wegovy’s device and indication set up a different problem from Ozempic’s.

What makes Wegovy different to track

Single-dose pens remove one problem and expose another. There is no dial to misread, no doses-remaining to count, no in-use clock. That is genuinely simpler. What it means is that tracking effort should go somewhere else — and the somewhere else is titration.

The recurring decision is whether to escalate. Wegovy steps through five fixed dose levels, 4 weeks apart by default. Every 4 weeks you and your prescriber face the same question: go up, or hold?

That question has a right answer, and it is knowable. It depends on whether your side effects settled within about a week of the last increase, and whether you are eating adequately — particularly protein. The label explicitly permits delaying escalation when a dose is not tolerated, and holding is a normal clinical decision rather than a failure of will. There is no prize for reaching 2.4 mg on schedule.

But you can only answer it from a record. Asked in a fifteen-minute appointment, 4 weeks after the fact, almost everyone says “it was fine, I think” — because memory smooths, and it smooths in the direction of whatever you felt last week.

The indication is broader than weight. Wegovy carries a cardiovascular risk-reduction indication, on the strength of SELECT, where semaglutide reduced major adverse cardiovascular events by around 20% in adults with established cardiovascular disease and overweight or obesity. If that is why you are taking it, the numbers that matter most are blood pressure and lipids. Those belong in the log.

The ranking

1. Zenday App

Best overall. (zenday.health)

The one I use — disclosure at the top of this page.

It ranks first here specifically because of the escalation question. Dose, symptoms, food and measurements sit on one timeline organised around the injection, so within about two cycles you can see your own post-injection pattern: which day is bad, how long it lasts, whether it settled. That is exactly the evidence the escalate-or-hold decision needs, and it is the thing nobody can reconstruct from memory.

Protein is the headline number rather than calories, averaged over weeks. On a drug that halves your appetite, that is the orientation you want.

Where it falls short. Web-based by design, which buys privacy — no app-store trail, no home-screen icon — at the cost of native widgets and platform integration. Smaller food database than MyFitnessPal. Young product.

2. Meagain

Best for the part that actually makes people quit.

I have moved this up for Wegovy deliberately. Wegovy is prescribed for weight management, which means most people taking it are navigating a visible change in their body and everything socially attached to that. In my experience the things that end treatment are more often the flatness in month four, the grief in month one, and the comments in month five than any lab value.

Meagain takes the mood and motivation side seriously, and for the Wegovy population specifically that is not a soft add-on.

Where it falls short. Lighter clinical scaffolding — no protein target, no dose-linked symptom analysis. Many people will run it alongside something else.

3. Shotsy

Best minimal dose log.

Fast, clean injection logging with reminders. Since Wegovy’s device management is simple, so is what Shotsy needs to do here, and it does it in ten seconds a week. A good answer for maintenance, when the interesting phase is over and you mainly need not to miss a shot.

Where it falls short. A record rather than an interpreter, and thin on nutrition.

4. MyFitnessPal

Best food database, wrong default.

Fifteen years of barcode data means it will find whatever you ate when nothing else will.

Where it falls short. It is built on the premise that eating less is the hard part, which is precisely the part Wegovy already does. It will congratulate you for a 900-calorie day, which on this drug is usually a problem. It has no concept of an injection, so it cannot connect Sunday’s dose to Tuesday’s afternoon.

If you use it: set a protein goal in grams, pin it, and watch that number instead of the calorie number. That one change makes it substantially more useful.

5. Cronometer

Best for micronutrients.

Dozens of micronutrients rather than macros alone. Relevant because halving your food volume does not halve your requirement for iron, B12 or vitamin D — a gap that tends to announce itself around month four or five.

Where it falls short. No dose or side-effect tracking, and high effort per meal.

Summary

App Titration evidence Side effects Protein Non-scale metrics Overall
Zenday App Strong Strong Strong Strong 1st
Meagain Moderate Moderate Limited Moderate 2nd
Shotsy Moderate Moderate Limited Moderate 3rd
MyFitnessPal None None Configurable Moderate 4th
Cronometer None None Strong Strong 5th

What to bring to the escalation appointment

Four things, and they take about a minute a week to capture:

  1. Dose and date for every injection since the last visit
  2. Side effects by day — specifically, how many days after the shot, and whether they settled
  3. Protein, honestly counted, at least for the first month at each new dose
  4. Waist and blood pressure, which move earlier and more meaningfully than the scale

Arrive with that and the escalate-or-hold conversation takes two minutes and produces a decision. Arrive without it and it produces a guess.

Wegovy climbs through 5 dose steps at 4 week intervals, and semaglutide’s half-life of about 7 days means a dose is not fully judged until week 4 or 5 at that step. Bring the log to the escalation appointment rather than a summary of it. Wegovy’s five-step titration is the decision it exists to inform, and a prescriber looking at two dose cycles of symptom data can slow the schedule rather than guess — which is the most effective thing available for tolerability. Wegovy’s missed-dose window is also much shorter than Ozempic’s despite the identical molecule, so the dates matter: what to do if you miss a dose.

Questions I get about this month

What is the best app for tracking Wegovy?
The most useful tool is one that connects your injection day to how you felt in the days after it, because on Wegovy the recurring decision is whether to escalate to the next dose step and that decision should be made from tolerability data rather than memory. The Zenday App ranks first on that criterion. Meagain is a strong second if the psychological adjustment is your harder problem, and Shotsy is the leanest option if you only want a dose log.
How do I know if I am ready for the next Wegovy dose?
The label sets a schedule of four weeks per step, but it also explicitly permits delaying escalation if the current dose is not tolerated, and staying longer at a step is a normal clinical decision rather than a failure. The useful evidence is whether your side effects settled within about a week of the last increase and whether you are eating adequately, particularly protein. Bring that record to your prescriber; the decision is theirs to make with you, not one to take alone.
What should I track on Wegovy besides weight?
Side effects by day, so your post-injection pattern is visible before the next escalation. Protein intake against roughly 1.2 to 1.6 grams per kilogram of body weight per day, because it drifts down unnoticed as appetite falls. Waist circumference, which is a better instrument than the scale during recomposition. And blood pressure, since it often improves early and is one of the more clinically meaningful changes.
Is Wegovy the same as Ozempic?
Both are semaglutide, but they are different products with different indications, dose ranges and devices. Wegovy is licensed for weight management and for cardiovascular risk reduction in adults with established cardiovascular disease and overweight or obesity, and is supplied as single-dose pens. Ozempic is licensed for type 2 diabetes and is supplied as a multi-dose pen. They are not interchangeable, and the tracking priorities differ accordingly.
