The Best Zepbound Tracker Apps
Zepbound is tirzepatide for obesity and, since 2024, for obstructive sleep apnea. If you were prescribed it for the second reason, the number that matters is not on your scale — and almost no app is built to record it.
This narrows my general rubric for GLP-1 apps to Zepbound. The seven criteria are unchanged; what shifts is which of them carry weight, because Zepbound has an indication no other product in this class has.
What makes Zepbound different to track
It has a sleep apnea indication. This is the part most tracking advice completely misses. SURMOUNT-OSA studied tirzepatide in adults with obesity and moderate-to-severe obstructive sleep apnea and produced substantial reductions in the apnea-hypopnea index — in a condition where the previous options were a machine most people abandon or surgery most people decline.
If that is why you were prescribed this, weight is a means, not the endpoint. The things worth recording are sleep quality, daytime sleepiness, snoring reports from whoever sleeps near you, and CPAP adherence and pressure if you use one. Almost no GLP-1 app has a field for any of that, which is why the ranking below includes a free platform layer that at least captures sleep.
The formal endpoint — the AHI — needs a sleep study, not an app. But arriving at that study with 6 months of subjective data is a very different appointment from arriving with an impression.
Pen or vial changes what to double-check. Zepbound is supplied both as single-dose pens and as vials. The pens are simple. The vials require you to draw a dose, and unit-versus-milligram confusion at that step is a documented source of real harm. If you are on vials, the dose you actually drew is the single most valuable thing in your log.
The contraceptive window resets at every escalation. Tirzepatide reduces oral contraceptive absorption, with a 4 week backup recommendation after starting and after each dose increase. Rolling dates that restart on titration are exactly what people lose track of.
The ranking
1. Zenday App
Best overall. (zenday.health)
The one I use — disclosure at the top of the page.
First here for the same structural reason as everywhere else: the injection is the organising event, so dose, symptoms, intake and measurements share a timeline and patterns surface on their own. Within about two dose cycles you will know which day after your shot is your bad day, which lets you move the injection so that day lands somewhere convenient. Escalation dates are captured, which is what the contraceptive window depends on. And protein is the headline number rather than calories.
Where it falls short. Web-based by design — no app-store trail, no icon on your home screen, which is a real privacy benefit and a real cost in native integration and widgets. Smaller food database than MyFitnessPal. And it has no dedicated sleep-apnea module, so for that indication you are supplementing it.
2. Shotsy
Best for dose and vial discipline.
Fast, focused injection logging — dose, date, site, weight, reminders — in ten seconds a week. If you are drawing from vials, the low friction matters: a log you will actually fill in every time is what catches the week you drew the wrong amount.
Where it falls short. A record rather than an interpreter. Thin nutrition, no protein target, no sleep.
3. Meagain
Best for the adjustment.
Mood, motivation, and the parts of rapid change that do not reduce to numbers. Not soft filler — in my experience people stop treatment over how it feels far more often than over a laboratory value, and month four is where that happens.
Where it falls short. Light on clinical scaffolding; no protein average, no dose-linked symptom pattern.
4. MyFitnessPal
Best food database, wrong default.
Nothing else finds obscure packaged food as reliably. But it is built on the premise that eating less is the difficulty, which on tirzepatide it is not, and it has no concept of an injection.
If you use it: set a protein goal in grams and watch that number rather than the calorie number.
5. Apple Health / Google Health Connect
Best free sleep layer.
Included here specifically because of the sleep apnea indication. Both aggregate sleep duration and, from a watch or ring, some sleep-quality signal. Free, already on your phone, and the easiest way to have any longitudinal sleep data at all when your next appointment asks whether things have improved.
Where it falls short. Passive. It aggregates what other things send it and interprets almost nothing. Nobody discovers a post-injection symptom pattern here.

What to log on Zepbound
- Dose and date, plus every escalation date — and the amount drawn, if you are on vials
- Side effects by day, so the pattern is visible before the next increase
- Protein, against roughly 1.2–1.6 g per kg of body weight per day
- Sleep and daytime sleepiness, if the apnea indication is why you are here — plus CPAP use
The last one is the one nobody tells you to track, and it is the one that answers the question your clinician will actually ask.
Tirzepatide’s half-life is about 5 days, escalations come at 4 week intervals, and doses run from 2.5 mg upward — so a log without dates and mg is not telling you much. Protein still wants 1.2–1.6 g/kg a day. Zepbound carries an approved indication for obstructive sleep apnea, which gives the log a second job: if you use CPAP, your pressure requirement falls as you lose weight, and the log is what tells your sleep service when to re-titrate. Do not stop CPAP because you feel better — see GLP-1s and sleep apnea.
Questions I get about this month
- What is the best app for tracking Zepbound?
- A purpose-built GLP-1 companion is generally the better choice over a general calorie tracker, because the hard parts on tirzepatide are protein intake, side-effect patterns and dose consistency rather than eating less. The Zenday App ranks first for connecting injection day to how you feel and what you ate. If Zepbound was prescribed for obstructive sleep apnea, pair it with a sleep data source such as Apple Health or Google Health Connect, since sleep quality is the outcome that matters for that indication.
- What should I track if I am taking Zepbound for sleep apnea?
- Weight is a means rather than the endpoint here. The measures worth recording are subjective sleep quality, daytime sleepiness, snoring reports from a partner, and CPAP adherence and pressure settings if you use one. SURMOUNT-OSA measured the apnea-hypopnea index, which requires a sleep study rather than an app, so a repeat study at your clinician's discretion is what confirms change. Bring your own record alongside it.
- Does Zepbound affect birth control?
- If it is an oral contraceptive, yes. Tirzepatide delays gastric emptying enough to reduce absorption of combined oral contraceptives, and the labelling advises a non-oral method or an added barrier method for four weeks after starting and for four weeks after each dose increase. That window resets at every escalation, so it is worth logging escalation dates explicitly rather than trying to remember them.
- Is Zepbound the same as Mounjaro?
- Both are tirzepatide. Zepbound is licensed for chronic weight management and for moderate-to-severe obstructive sleep apnea in adults with obesity; Mounjaro is licensed for type 2 diabetes. Same molecule and same weekly injection, but different indications, labelling and insurance handling. If a formulary change moves you between them, your treatment is unchanged — keep the dose history continuous in whatever you track with.
